[16 December 2008] POWERHOUSE TO CELEBRATE RETURN OF SIGNIFICANT PRODUCTION 'lawn' In 2009 Brisbane Powerhouse welcomes back the internationally acclaimed production lawn. From Thursday 26 - Friday 27 February 2009 this exciting dance theatre production returns following tours of Europe at the Sophiensaela in Berlin, August 2005 and the 2006 Sydney Festival, 2006 Perth Festival and the 2006 Singapore Arts Festival. lawn has come a long way since it was first performed as a work in progress as the opening event for Tanztage Festival in 2004. Co-produced between Brisbane Powerhouse and Dancenorth in association with Sasha Waltz and guests, lawn was choreographed by Splintergroup and rehearsed at Brisbane Powerhouse. The full production, a highly visual dance-theatre piece that explores ideas through music, design, drama - and of course, movement, was premiered at Brisbane Powerhouse in November 2004 to a rapturous response from Brisbane's dance and theatre community. [08 December 2008] Nouvelle Vague - supported by Megan Washington Only two weeks until Nouvelle Vague and their coquettish covers of songs by Joy Division, Depeche Mode, The Clash and The Buzzcocks fill Brisbane Powerhouse. Their unique sound will set a sleepy sultry mood on Saturday 20 December. Australian jazz singer Megan Washington confirmed as Nouvelle Vague support act. The 22 year old was a finalist in the National Jazz Awards (Voice) in 2005. Her style is cool, innovative and contemporary, so it is not surprising this young star was chosen to warm up the crowds for some seriously chic chanson.
